This video demonstration will show you how to use Incisive Xcellerator to find numbers that are formatted as text in a spreadsheet.

Number Formatted as Text

Open your spreadsheet and click on ‘Start Xcellerator’ in the Incisive tab.
In this example, one of the ‘1’s in the column is formatted as text.
The error identified will be ‘Number formatted as text’
To correct this problem, click on the error cell to reformat the text as a number. When we do that, we will still need to make the new number format active (this is Excel's behavior, not Xcellerator's).
Once the cell is updated, the sum of the numbers is corrected from 9 to 10.
Rescan to find that the error has been corrected.

In this demonstration, I’d like to show you how you can use Xcellerator to find numbers that are formatted as text within a spreadsheet. Here we have a formula that’s summing all of the data values above it, and one of them is formatted as text. So let’s go to start Xcellerator, and we’ll identify that cell. And we can see that the ‘Number formatted as text’ is the result, we can correct this by right clicking, changing the format. When we do that, to make that format active, we need to update the cell, and before we go ahead and make that, we can see that the sum is 9, and once we’ve updated the cell, the sum is now 10. Then when we rescan, we have no more numbers formatted as text.
