Description
This demonstration will take you through a sample run of Validate during which we will save our work, modify the spreadsheet, and load that saved file to highlight the new features available during the loading process..

Saving and loading a Validate session, identifying changes

  1. Open Microsoft Excel and Click on the Incisive tab at the top..
  2. Click ‘Start Validate’ to start a Validate session on the current spreadsheet.
  3. Make some approvals
    • Approve three regions
    • Approve three values.
  4. Save the file.
  5. Make some changes
    • Change cell I3, from a formula cell, to the number 2. This will change the region that I3 was in before, shrinking it by removing the top formula cell. This will also change the values in J3, and K3, which were also approved.
    • Change the sheet name that our approvals were on to "new name".
  6. Let's load our saved work (load the .valid file) by clicking "Open Validate"
  7. Use the sheet renaming dialog to identify the new name of the changed sheet's name.
  8. We then have the Changes dialog, in which we can re-approve cells and regions that have changed.
  9. Then, after "apply and close" the "Incisive Change Report" will be shown.
  10. This report shows the changes that were identified on loading, and shows the actions that were taken by the user
  11. Also shown is a side by side listing of statistics of the contents of the save file and the current session.
