In this demonstration, I'd like to show you how you can use Incisive Validate to audit a spreadsheet and save that audit file so you can continue the audit later. So let's start by looking in the Incisive tab within Excel and clicking 'Start Validate'. When we do that, we analyze the entire spreadsheet and some things appear on the screen. We have the regions, which are these purple boxes on the screen. And on the right hand side, we have a task pane that appears with four sections: 'Validate Progress', 'Selected Region', 'Regions', and 'Fault Investigator'. So the 'Validate Progress' section gives you a quick view of the changes that you've made since the last save. You can get more details about those by clicking 'View History'. The 'Selected Region' section gives you information about the region that you have selected, which we'll see in a moment. The 'Regions' section is a region navigation section where you can click to a particular region and see which regions are available to click to. And then in the 'Fault Investigator', we'll see this later, we can navigate to the cause of a likely error. So let's go ahead and look at the screen. In the screen we have, the regions are cut with these purple boxes, and when you select one of these regions, you can see on the task pane, something changes. We have the 'Selected Region' that shows you the formula. This is where you can approve this region if you like the formula. When it's approved, the box will turn green on the screen, and the box in the Region Navigator will also turn green. The other thing you can do on screen is this mini menu appears, and you can use it to approve or disapprove a value on the screen. So if you left click a question mark, you'll see that you can choose a check or an X. Check is for approve, X is for disapprove. So I can approve a cell or mark it back as a question mark. One of the beauties of this is that you can disapprove a cell, marking it suspect with an X. When you do that, you can use the Fault Investigator to try and find the source of that error. So here we can see that these are the cells that are referenced by our formula. And when we click to the one, we can see this one is 500 under the allowances, that's probably the source of our error. We can click back to the cell we were at, here's why it says 500, so that's probably it, so we can go and change that value to 3, that's what it should be. We can use Navigate to get back to where we were, clicking Back, it's like clicking Back in a browser. Finally, we can look at our history by clicking the 'View History' button in the Validate Progress panel and see the changes that we made and get some more detail about each change by clicking on it. The next thing you can do with Validate is save your work. So we can say Save Validate, this saves our session with the file name that we have for the spreadsheet, you can make that anything you want, with a .valid extension. We can say Save, and then when we turn off Validate, we can load our old save file by using 'Open Validate' and it'll check the spreadsheet, make sure nothing has changed that we've marked as important, and then let you pick up where you left off. Lastly, we can use the Log to get some details about the report, about log file itself in the current state of the spreadsheet, so we don't have any cells marked Approved or Disapproved, we have one region Approved, we have my user name as the one that did that reviewing, and some more details about the amount of approvals or disapprovals that are there in the file at this time.
