Spreadsheets are frequently used to manage critical data, which is then used to make critical decisions. However, it is common knowledge that spreadsheets are highly prone to errors. Does that mean companies should eliminate spreadsheet use for these purposes? Absolutely not. Employees should be empowered to choose the right tools for the job, but should also be given every opportunity to be successful with those tools.
During this webinar, Victoria Silver, CISA, will bring her 20 years of experience in designing and implementing IT controls frameworks to guide you through a case study of an internal audit spreadsheet controls project where you will learn techniques and tools that can be immediately applied to identify and control spreadsheet risks within your organization.
Within the case study context, Ms. Silver will:
- Share different methods for identifying high risk spreadsheets within an organization
- Provide examples of the different risks associated with different types of spreadsheets
- Demonstrate a technique for inventorying and assessing spreadsheet risks
- Explore different types of controls that can be used across the spectrum of control risks
